This episode contains conversations about mental health challenges in a child, including suicidal ideation, which may be distressing for some listeners. Please take care while listening.

The World Health Organization calls loneliness a global health challenge, affecting one in six people, from adolescents to the elderly. Its impact on wellbeing and longevity is as serious as any physical condition, and the call for urgent action is clear.

This conversation was originally recorded for CallFour to Connect – a podcast I’ve developed for Charles Alder, who’s acting to address this issue with an online platform designed to remind us we can all make a difference.

Lateefat Odunuga, is a Story Psychologist and Global Advisor for the African Network of Youth Policy Excellence.

Seeing a gap in how children were being reached, she turned to storytelling as a bridge – writing more than 10 children’s books each one a tool to spark connection and understanding.

Lateefat shares why stories matter, and how they can transform loneliness into belonging. Something that’s more important than ever in this digital age.
