From the ‘LOST BOYS’ report in the UK to the Anxious Generation in the US – this week we’re analysing a global breakdown in community with two siblings who’ve decided to act, helping families create their own unique culture.
Family culture encompasses core values, traditions, beliefs and behaviours that define and shape interactions with community and the world around them. Influenced by a family’s history, experience, and external cultural forces – it is the thread that binds a family together, fostering a sense of belonging, identity and shared purpose.
Something my guests Steven Shapiro and Nancy Shapiro Rapport feel is disappearing.
“Two things have happened – one, we’ve had a breakdown in communities, people are less involved in religion and civic organisations, but also we have so much more competition from the outside.” Steven Shapiro tells us.
As Former Educators Steven and Nancy want everyone on the planet to benefit from their family life experience, which underpins the foundations of their app ‘Our Family Culture’. “That’s the generational legacy of parenting – when we build really strong cultures, when we raise our kids with really clear values, it shows up generations after we’re gone.” Steven Shapiro talks about how even though his children never met his father the values instilled in him were passed on naturally.
