Modern life has created generations of digitally connected but socially isolated and often lonely people, putting pressure on health and education systems.
It’s now more important than ever for us to reconnect and be present – especially for children.
For humans feeling connected to others is crucial for well-being, impacting mental and physical health, social skills, and overall happiness. It’s a fundamental human need. When fulfilled it can be linked to lower stress, improved emotional regulation, and increased resilience.
Social connection also contributes to a sense of belonging, purpose, and self-worth.
Which begs the question – why do we polarise and alienate others as a society?
An ‘us’ and ‘them’ mentality that permeates families, workplaces, and communities globally, is doing great harm. Male vs female, racial profiling, religious discrimination, the list goes on.

A writer for children, Jayneen Sanders is a former teacher and passionate advocate for the empowerment of children. With over 130 titles published, she sees our role as responsible leaders in society is to redefine a culture that no longer serves us.
