Communicate to Connect – why stories matter.
As humans, we need to feel connected with people, place and purpose. I believe sharing authentic stories, that personally resonate, is the best way to achieve this and I found matching my values around pillars of Education, Health, People, Animals and Environment, made it very rewarding. The response has been overwhelming and my business has expanded in unexpected directions, organically. From consulting and video production, to hosting events. Then in 2020 COVID testing my creativity, leading to short films about food provenance and developing five modules to ‘Mastering Storytelling’, delivered to small business and entrepreneurs keen to leverage their knowledge and expertise in new ways online.
Good stories stay with us, inspire us, even change our lives. Often our fondest childhood memories are of the stories we were read, like Hansel and Gretel or told by relatives about an event they experienced. Grandparents love to share generational stories – those nostalgic paths they take us down. Stories come alive in novels, on stage and screen, allowing us to live vicariously and escape in our imagination. The great stories capture our attention and reveal the depths of emotion, in ways we don’t always acknowledge. What’s your story? How do you share that to connect with an audience? Perhaps I can help you identify those stories and show you creative ways to tell it.
